I am passionate about color and light. Every work of art that I create is an intentional study as to how colors mingle and play off each other and, when fused with intriguing light, have the ability to bring life to a canvas. I love spending time outdoors and observing the way light plays a significant role in how colors are perceived. Using nature as my stepping stone, my work is based on actual locations where I have lingered and experienced their particular and unique nuances.
I cherish the time I spend exploring the countryside and being delighted by a sense of nature’s poetry. For me, this is where the veil between the natural world and the spiritual world is pulled aside and my soul is stirred. It is these quiet and inspiring moments that I want to capture with paint! It’s the movement of light sparkling through the trees and rolling the shadows across the rocks. It’s the wind as it lifts the leaves and swirls them through the fresh air and the quite pitter-patter of raindrops on the pond on a cool morning that kindle my imagination.
Each painting begins with a realistic landscape that wonderfully weaves its way into a more whimsical and stylized impression of that particular place. I begin each painting with a blank canvas, roughing in large areas of background color. Using thin layers of oil paint, I move my way forward playing with color and light as I gradually refine and add some whimsical details. I commonly work on 4 or 5 paintings at a time. The benefit is that I am continually returning to my paintings in progress with fresh inspiration.

I have been very fortunate for the last 35 years to own my own gallery along with my husband, Bill who is a Master Picture Framer. We have also participated in hundreds of Fine Art's Fairs throughout the country for the last 12 years and I have won many Awards along the way.
